Hey i will be down on saturday mayby bringing chilli if its cold enough if not something else.. Also i need 2 tickets if anyone can help out let me know.
Meyer is now using the BCS as a motivating force for the players.
In my mind, there is no way we jump Louisville into the #2 spot if we win out and they do too, even with an SEC Championship. I think everyone including the computers is bonkers about the WVU game.
I believe we will see all of the stops being pulled out. We can lose the next three games and still go to the Sugar Bowl, which is where we might end up at best anyway, should the computers not be in our favor.
The announcement of the game being televised by CBS is huge I think. We have a nationally televised network in the crux of the viewing audiences schedule. We need to take advantage of this big time.
But Chris, Rutgers has not played anyone with a decent offese. Anyone can have great defensive stats when they play the likes of 1. UNC (1 - 8) 2. Illinois (2 - 8) 3. Ohio (7 - 3) but they don't play anyone 4. Howard (3 - 6) 5. USF (6 - 3) Only impressive win 6. Navy (6 - 3) but they don't play anyone 7. Pitt (6 - 3) see above 8. UConn (3 - 5) see above
At least Rutger has played more teams with winning records than WVU, but the only way I see Rutgers beating Louisville is if the catch the Cardinals with their pants down. I see Louisville ripping the Knight apart in Rutgers first real game of the year.
But I don't really care cause the Gators are coming to town.
I agree with your comment about CBS. I'll have to add an extra hour to my Tivo record time to make sure I get the entire game. It's a good thing they instituted the new rules so CBS could get more commercials into the game.
Dude, Navy clinched the first awarded bowl game of '06 last weekend.
Don't disrespect!!!
We will all surely be watching Thurs. I haven't watched a Rutgers game all season, so I can't comment, except to say that if Louisville plays like they did last week...
Student tickets have been hard to come by and ridiculously expensive. I have a few emails out and am waiting to hear back but need to know how much people are willing to pay...
"Probably the loudest ovation I've ever had in my life was when I was inducted into the Ring of Honor," Spurrier said. "For 12 years, I had a wonderful relationship with the Gator fans. I look back on those 12 years and we probably had maybe the best football players in the country overall. Some other schools had a lot of good players, too. But I would say we had probably the best. We had excellent coaches and, of course, I thought Gator fans were probably the best in the country."
Jasser, I'm down for $50. But as I said, don't jump over any buildings to get one for me. I'll watch from the tailgate or find one by myself. Seriously no big deal.
Obviously this would be no one's first preference, but would anyone be interested in watching from the tailgate. I watched the FSU game from the tailgate last year and it was a blast. Much drunkeness ensues.

Peacock, were you drunk when you made that last post? I put in an offer for one student ticket for $50 and am waiting to hear back. I'll let you guys know.
It's yours Cass. I have leads on four other tickets which would cover everyone else but unfortunately I won't know for sure until Sat. The tickets will be about $50 if my friend comes through. They are student tickets so anyone who has a UF ID please bring it just in case.
Chris, you are not getting the dogs, brats, burgers. Depending on our South Carolina friends we may not need much of that. If they don't come we only need a few dogs/brats for you. If they do come then we will need more. I'm going to talk to Mark Smith today.
Peacock said... I shall be coming. Please let me know what else besides my normal ice and gatorade and beer that I should bring. 11/04/2006 07:53:24 PM
Which of the following would you also like to bring?
Very interesting article and comments from SOS. I wonder if they were taken out of context.
Back to Meyer embracing Spurrier's legend. It contrasts sharply with that of the man who first succeeded Spurrier.
"Zooker never thought much about the past, did he?" Spurrier said. "There's a fact of life that winners admire winners and losers resent winners and try to find something negative about them …."
Joe Schad: Hey y'all. Happy to be here. Was in Columbia, S.C. on Tuesday with the Head Ball Coach, so look for an interview later this week on College GameDay and maybe Sportscenter. I'll tell you about some of what he said if you're interested. Also, was supposed to go to Gainesville this weekend, but will instead go to Miami at Maryland to help report on the tragic death of DT Bryan Pata. The latest chapter in what has been a horror novel for Miami and coach Larry Coker this season... --- Jeff (Gainesville, FL): Of course we want to hear what the ball coach said.
Joe Schad: Thanks, Jeff. Well here's sort of the best stuff Spurrier said: 1) Florida didn't want him to return, in part because he thinks they feared he might leave them again. He claims he feels now it was best he didn't go back to Florida, because he'd have been trying to "re-do" what he'd already done at Florida. Enough people close to me have suggested, however, that Spurrier would be coaching Florida right now, if they'd just opened up their arms and quickly invited him to come home. As he said, "Well, that's not what happened."
Jaime said... Ticket update: I have three tickets together in a block. Two are $50 and one is $75. Please let me know ASAP if anyone wants them. 11/09/2006 08:04:14 PM
Darren would be in on that if Peacock is up for it. I'll call The Peacock and check.
The fact that the crucial Rutgers vs. Louisville game was on Thurs. and Rutgers won, putting us most likely in the #3 spot in the BCS granted we win and the #2 spot if we win out and win the national championship is huge for this weekends game plan in my mind.
I believe we no longer need to blow people out to impress the polls. I think wins will suffice and we don't need to play so wide-open. Maybe we'll have some more blah games like UGA and Vandy, but if that takes us to the National Championship Game, who cares!!!
I am a bit nervous about Texas on our heels though, but hopefully that won't be an issue.
I'll get coke and water if Peacock wants to get Dogs and Brats.. If you update this, update it to Ruth-Ann.. As I am going to work and wont be on anymore before I go to buy the stuff so let her know.. Thanks :)
I was planning on getting some Cornish Game hens for the game this week.
ReplyDeleteOpinions on numbers?
Also, Jamie, do you know if Hike or any of his friends are coming down for the game?
Would definitely want to make sure the invitation is extended since they are very generous to us up in Columbia.
I shall be coming. Please let me know what else besides my normal ice and gatorade and beer that I should bring.
ReplyDeleteVeena and I will both be coming from Dallas. I'll check with Hike on the SoCa folks.
ReplyDeleteMe and my big tummy will be there, Cornish hens are good but what should we have with them? I'll bring donuts and whatever side dishes we want.
ReplyDeleteHey i will be down on saturday mayby bringing chilli if its cold enough if not something else.. Also i need 2 tickets if anyone can help out let me know.
ReplyDeleteGame is @ 3:30 p.m. and will be televised by CBS.

I meant to say no way we jump Louisville without us showing style points. We need to win and win big.

I see that MikeT needs two tickets. My buddy Darren is coming up and it looks like he needs 1.
ReplyDeleteAnyone else need any or have any? Jaime, any student ticket leads?
The Peacock always needs one ticket but is never upset if he has to watch from the tailgate.
ReplyDeleteSOS congratulates the Gators and talks about Florida and the game this weekend.
ReplyDeleteStudent tickets have been hard to come by and ridiculously expensive. I have a few emails out and am waiting to hear back but need to know how much people are willing to pay...
ReplyDeleteme and mike will pay what ever it takes .... so let us know
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Darren will pay $50 or so.

ReplyDeleteSend Spurrier home crying
Peacock, were you drunk when you made that last post? I put in an offer for one student ticket for $50 and am waiting to hear back. I'll let you guys know.
ReplyDeleteI belive Jim and Donna don't have tickets and may be planning to watch the game at the tailgate, but I am not sure if that is still their plans.
ReplyDeleteJames William - What time are you and Veena landing in Gainesville Friday?
ReplyDeleteAlso, are we planning to go downtown Fri. or Sat. I would say a def. yes for Sat. if not both depending on sched.
We haven't gone out all season and Veena is gracing us with an appearance.
Does anyone just want to watch at the tailgate and not go to the game?
ReplyDeleteI'm kind of thinking that I may enjoy doing that and sipping on some fine PBR that Dustin and Mike bring from JAXBEACH.
9:44pm, but that connection is usually delayed. I would defininitely like to go out, but that is just me.
ReplyDeleteWe have some work to do on the trailer Friday so that may preclude us from going out since we won't get there until late.
Veena and I will bring vegetables for a side. Not exactly sure what yet... maybe corn-on-the-cob, squash, zuchini, etc. We'll see.
ReplyDeleteWe'll probably also do Mac & Cheese.
Also, we'll hopefully get some Shiner at Publix on our way in.
Can someone bring some water??
I just got an email back and the guy will sell it for $75 Please let me know if there are any takers.
ReplyDeleteChris, by "Food" do you mean that there are no brats or dogs left either?
ReplyDeleteGood article on Dallas Baker signing with SOS.
ReplyDeleteWhen Spurrier decided a few months later he no longer wanted to be a Gator, it did not temper Baker's determination to become one.
Spurrier or no Spurrier, Baker's mind was made up.
"I didn't care if Chris Leak was the head coach," he said. "I just wanted to come to the University of Florida. I wanted to be a Florida Gator."
I will take the ticket Jaime.. Thank you :)

Coke, water, dogs, brats, buns.

Siler has slight MCL sprain. He is day to day and may not play Saturday.
ReplyDeleteI can get all of that.. Or whatever Peacock doesn't want to get.. Let me know Peacock
ReplyDeleteTicket update: I have three tickets together in a block. Two are $50 and one is $75. Please let me know ASAP if anyone wants them.
ReplyDeleteI will go to Publix on Sat. morning and get desserts, water, and whatever other food is needed at that time.
