  5. No info yet on gatorzone.com about student tickets...I will call tomorrow and see what I can find out.

  6. Apparently I missed the article on gatorzone...here is the info:
The Gator Ticket Office will begin taking orders for the BCS National Championship Game on Sun., Dec. 3, 2006, starting at 9 p.m. Football Booster season-ticket holders can order through the G.A.T.O.R.S. phone system by calling (877) 428-6742 (toll-free) or locally at (352) 384-3261.

THE DEADLINE FOR ORDERING CHAMPIONSHIP TICKETS IS 5:00 PM, WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 6, 2006.

I guess the left overs will go to students:
The G.A.T.O.R.S. phone system will begin accepting BCS National Championship ticket orders from UF students at 6 p.m. on Thurs., Dec. 7, 2006. Tickets are $175 each, plus a $4 processing fee per order, and are limited to one per student.

    We'll be calling like crazy!!

  7. I just ordered my 2 tickets. I estimate that the booster priority level required to get tickets will be lower for this game. With that said, I doubt that it will be low enough for me.

  8. I have ties with tour operators from my former job at the charter airline. I'm sure they will do flights out of Orlando, including packages with tickets and hotel. Perhaps also packages without air travel.

Please respond if you want me to make some phone calls. (I have many direct phone #s to these people).

  9. Chris may have given up all hope of going to the game, but I have not. I still feel there is a slim chance we could go, if Emma decides to be born in the next 7-10 days. Come on Emma!

  10. Due to an unusual persuasion disregarding finances by my parents, it appears that Peacock will most likely be going to the NCG :)

My plans will be that of James William.

  11. Peacock, I think looking into hotels and tickets would be much appreciated.

Stephanie got an email from the UAA (for some reason it hasn't come to me) saying:
ALL STUDENTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO PICK UP THEIR TICKET IN GLENDALE, AZ. WITH THEIR GATOR1 ID CARD AND DRIVER`S LICENSE, AND THEIR TICKET CLAIM VOUCHER. YOU MUST HAVE A TICKET CLAIM VOUCHER AND BOTH FORMS OF ID TO BE ABLE TO PICK UP A STUDENT TICKET! TICKETS ARE NON TRANSFERABLE - NO EXCEPTIONS

So I will call UAA tomorrow to discuss this but it looks like we are royally screwed in the ticket department!!

Do work I will not be able to make it to the game :( So Rich will have to give the OSU a big Wooooo for me.

Come on Ted!! Change your work schedule.

If you decide you can't can you still try to order your tickets? We need tickets badly.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Yes Ted, if you cant go I'd love to have your ticket ;) Since I'm not a student at UF and seemed to be screwed.

  18. Vegas Baby!!!

I got a nonstop roundtrip ticket on Delta for $285 from Orlando to Vegas.

Veena and Jamie will get to experience child care with me for 7 friggin days!!! Bwa ha ha.

As of now, we are staying in Vegas for a few nights and on the way to Glendale, weather permitting, driving over to the Grand Canyon.

Stay in Glendale for 2 nights and then drive back Tues. after game to Vegas for departure flights.

A vacation within a vacation within a vacation.

    Glorious!!!

    Go Gators!!!

  19. Spinosa, you have bigger and better things on the way than Vegas... guy!

  21. Student ticket update: The vouchers will have student names on them so only me and Steph will be able to buy them (assuming we get through).

Any thoughts on a hotel? Aparna found a Days Inn (Buckeye, AZ) for $80 a night. She thinks it's about 25min from the stadium. We should probably try to reserve one soon and can cancel later if we find something better.

  22. Unfort. the Peacock has found no luck with tour operators he used to work with.

Please ignore Peacock hotel/ticket help post. :(

  23. Hotels: Last night I saw a number of them in Phoenix on hotels.com . I did hear someone staying in Buckeye. Do you really want to stay in a town with that name though?

  24. It is slightly encouraging that only 7,000 sold by Monday afternoon. There is still a slim chance some will be available. Gville Sun article on Ticket sales:

Eager Gator fans, who haven"t seen a National Championship in 10 years, swamped UF"s ticket office Monday with calls. UF has 16,000 tickets allotted, 1,200 of which are for students. By Monday afternoon, more than 7,300 tickets had been sold. Season ticket holders have until 5 p.m. Wednesday to place orders, and students can order on a first-call, first-serve basis beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday until student tickets are sold out.

Facts and Figures about Ticket Availability
to the National Championship Game in Glendale

With the heavy demand for tickets to the BCS National Championship Game, the University Athletic Association would like to share with fans some numbers related to the tickets made available to the Florida Gators.

The University of Florida received an allotment of 16,000 tickets for the Gators’ appearance in the National Championship Game on January 8th in Glendale, Arizona.
2,250 tickets are allotted for UF students, players and the band.

1,500 tickets are allotted to the Official/Presidents Parties, Coaches & Staff, Sponsors, University Guests, University Athletic Board of Directors and Intercollegiate Athletic Committee.

The remaining 12,250 tickets were made available to sell to boosters.

The athletic department received orders for 21,500 tickets, meaning 9,250 are getting refunds.

If you were unable to purchase tickets to the Southeastern Conference Championship Game, it is very unlikely that you will be able to purchase tickets for the BCS Championship Game. There is NO guarantee that orders will be filled at any level of Gator Booster priority.

Both Florida and Ohio State received the same allotment of tickets.

  28. From some insiders that have been doing some largescale homework setting up travel packages for Alumni/Boosters/Etc. :

I've spent the entire day on the phone with airlines, hotels, travel agents, tour operators, car rental companies, etc. I've also talked to two ticket brokers.

This is from a candid conversation with a ticket/hotel package wholesaler that for all practical purposes wasted about 55 of the 60 minutes we were on the phone ... If you buy tickets from a broker now, you will pay through the nose. Tickets are already dropping in cost and the price tag will continue to drop until it settles in somewhere around 2X face value and stays that way until game day. On game day, it's either boom or bust.

Last year was the Rose Bowl and because it's 110,000 seats there were reasonably priced tickets available on game day. There are no such guarantees with Glendale because the stadium is considerably less capacity. The one hope for reasonably priced tickets on game day is that the brokers overpriced themselves and fans stayed away because they were convinced there would not be any reasonably priced tickets available.

The best bet is to keep checking on Ebay and the broker houses. I'm told that prices dropped by an average of nearly $100 a ticket today.

  29. We got our rejection letter for National Championship tiks. You needed 200 points, we have 30, so maybe in 10 years we will have a chance.

  30. HOTEL

Ok, it's time we start thinking about a hotel. Right now I see a room at the University Inn & Suites for $105/night in Tempe (right across from ASU campus). These change hourly. Also, there are good leads on GatorCountry for 2 travel agents with Gator specials ($102 to $200 per night).

    How many rooms?
    I'd say 3.
Jamie, Veena, Peacock, Bruscia, Rich, Gene, Jaime, Aparna, Cassie, ?

    Where?
Somewhere up 17 would be the best logistically for those of us commuting from Vegas. However, Tempe or Scottsdale is probably the best location for bars/restaurants/action.

Anyone have any input/suggestions? Post or call me.

  31. Jamie, I'm holding the tail!!!

  32. ALL:
Gene is making reservations for a great steak restaurant on Sunday night. He's included everyone in the count. It is like $50 per person.

Let me know if you are NOT interested asap.

  33. James William:

    i AM interested.

  34. Looks like all the Gator events are in Scottsdale, so I'm leaning toward Scottsdale for hotel if I can find some.

Here is a link to a bar where you can watch the game if you don't score tix. It is in Scottsdale which is about 20min from Glendale (where the stadium is). There is not much in Glendale besides the stadium.

  35. A special shout out to my main men, Michael Jordan and Todd Miller!!!

    Holla!!!
