  1. Congrats Gators on a tremendous '08regular season.

I also want to thank Ole Miss for beating us so our offense could get their heads out of their asses so we could witness our true football greatness.

Now go win the SECCG and the BCSCG!!!

  2. Texas jumped us in the Coaches Poll. Some coaches are trying to get Texas into the Big12 CG. Last week we were ahead of them by 31 points, this week they are ahead of us by 11. Should not matter for us, but interesting.

  3. I noticed that as well. Not that it should matter to us, but the voters in the polls who changed should be made public. Stoops is gonna go ballistic.

There is no way Texas' win over a non-ranked Texas A&M was more impressive than our victory over a ranked and still ranked FSU.

This is why the system sucks. Something needs to change.

But for now, hopefully the Gators just stay hot and keep winning and we worry none about computers and such.

  4. I don't see why you are upset Jeffrey. Those same voters will then jockey next week according to the outcomes and their beliefs. The Gators would get a similar push if they win. This week is simply only about the Big 12 CG.

  5. Oh, and Stoops is not going to go ballistic. He's going to be very happy.

  6. True. I like how the media, or at least the media that I have been reading has this entire time until now forgot to mention that it is the Big 12's formula to blame since it is not like the SEC's which also puts in the higher BCS ranked team, but only if they are not within 5 spots of them in the rankings should they have lost the head to head battle. This whole BCS watching for the Big 12 has been ridiculous.

  7. Only 4 ranked SEC teams at the end of the regular season in either the AP or Coaches' Poll.

Not so much this year guys.

  8. How good would it be if the Big 12 just told Missouri to stay home and took Texas against Oklahoma!?

Maybe the 2 division conferences (SEC, Big 12, ACC) should think about some provision to remove a "Missouri" from the championship game such that the 2 obvious best teams play it out. Maybe something like:

    If
DivB team #1 BCS rank < DivA team #1 BCS rank - 5
    AND
DivB team #1 BCS rank < DivA team #2 BCS rank - 5
    AND
(DivB team #1 lost to (DivA team #1 or DivA team #2)

    then

championship game = DivA team#1 vs DivA team #2.

  9. Yes Jeffrey. Agreed... the middle of the SEC is weak this year. Period.

  10. True James, but if a team can win their conference despite having a mediocre year perhaps due to injuries, crap officiating, etc..., a auto bid to a BCS Bowl is a great reward for the school itself.

Seperation of school and national interests.

  11. The BCS $ is split amoung conference teams I think.

Plus, that "down" team you mention can still go to another non-BCS bowl game... there are plenty.

    ReplyDelete
  12. what about 2001 when we lost to Tenn cuz of the terrorists?

    I wouldn't call us a "down" team.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Yeah, and we got one of the at large bids to a BCS bowl (Orange Bowl).

  14. Well Missouri has that chance to get a berth. It goes many ways.

All I know is that two things will haunt James Mulford for the rest of his college football life - ReFSU and that UT game.

I'd say the Fiasco Bowl, but we just got clobbered.

  15. Jamie I see your reasoning in the whole this with taking Missouri out. The only is if you start doing that then what is the point of having to divisions why not just have the conference and just let the top two teams play each other.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Bruce, good point. Why do we have 2 divisions?? I guess if you only have the one division it might not be fair because you can't play everyone in your division unless you have zero out of conference games.

    ?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Well then Jeffrey, why not give Georgia a chance for a berth?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Corey Brewer torn ACL. Out for season. I'm amazed he didn't tear one previously in all the crazy spills I held my breath through while he was in college.

    Get well Corey!!

  19. No more than 2 teams from any conference can make a BCS game.

Alabama and Florida are locks, so UGA is out.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Bruce's point is a good one but then you'd be like the Big 10 and have some screwy rotation where you played some team one year and not the other. With two divisions you have the possibility to play a team not on your schedule due to the conference game and case in point with our matchup against Albama.

  21. A big thanks to Mr. Peacock of Naples for finding this to settle our discussion.

    Fix This!

  22. Dlee had 37 points and 21 rebounds against Golden State on Saturday night!!

  23. My only concern is, what if the gators win on Sat. and OK wins also, what are the chances that that the gators still dont make it in the top two. Texas right now is rank #2 in the computer polls while the gators are ranked #6. I thik we whould have to jump to number 1 in both polls to be able to pass them. Unless the computer rankings were to move them up a couple of spots. Hopefully OK losses and then we would not have to worry about this.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Only cuz it was on the Wall Street Journal, but props nonetheless.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Chris, we just need to worry about beating Bama. If we do we will get enough of a boost in the computers and a jump in the human polls to get to the top 2.

How are you doing?? I saw that phone pic you sent. What phone do you have over there?

  26. Gary Danielson agrees! Take that Jeffrey Wallace!

Should Texas or Oklahoma have represented the Big 12 South in the Big 12 championship game?

Danielson: "I wish, and it would have been my idea and I know it can't happen, they should have just asked Missouri to step aside (as the North champion). This is clearly a once-in-a-lifetime thing with them being ranked 2 and 3. Everybody knows one of them should be playing for the national championship. I wish the commissioner of the Big 12 would have said, 'Let's let them replay this in the Big 12 championship.' ... What's so charming and why everybody will get caught up in the Alabama-Florida game is that it's going to be decided on the field."

  27. 300 pesos for half a gallon of milk!!

It looks like there's an outside shot for Tim Tebow to win the Heisman again.

Danielson: "Outside? I don't think it's outside. I think he's one of two guys. He's right there. If he has a great game in this one, you better have a great one against him. I've got to say the stats in the Big 12 are like pesos to me. Everybody's got stats there. It's 300 pesos for half a gallon of milk."

  28. Major LOL to G.D. and he's saying that not even being SEC biased due to being with CBS. Fact - the SEC stinks this year, but also fact - the Big 12 is Arena Football.

  29. I dont know what phone pic you are talking about cause i have no phone over here.
