As of the 1st coaches poll, 3 of the top 6 are SEC. Nice.
We are to play only 3 of the top current top 25.
#1 - UGA #6 - LSU #18 - UT
I'm banking on a pretty weak SOS year, so we better get some style points along with those W's or else we could be on the outside looking in, as a reversal of the '06 Title Game scenario with Michigan and us.
By the way, tOSU plays Southern Cal early this year so it won't be as easy for them as in years past. With that said, I wouldn't mind seeing tOSU win and make it to the BCS game. It's pretty fun watching them get waxed.
All that I see at this point are what amount to rumors from "close" sources. I do imagine he is out for the season though.
Looking at him as a Gator going forward, it could be possible for him to gain another year of eligibility despite already having taken a redshirt under the NCAA medical hardship rules, which I think he would have a pretty good case to win, being as he passed up on millions of dollars.
If his ACL injury is that serious, he wouldn't even be ready for the '09 combine and perhaps would have to give it one last college try to prove it worthy to be drafted. However, he could always not get drafted and just get picked up on a practice squad and make a team that way.
Regardless, props to the guy for coming back for his senior season. Obviously is decision was $-driven, but it is horrible that this is what he got for trying to get possibly a few extra million by having a great '08. Regardless of football, my prayers go out to the man and any person for that matter with an injury or anything that could harm your welfare going forward.
Ingram returned to UF for his redshirt senior season despite an opportunity to be drafted professionally. If injured for the season, Ingram will only be eligible for a medical hardship (sixth year of eligibility) if Florida's staff can prove to the NCAA that Ingram was previously redshirted because of an injury. Ron Zook was the head coach at UF when Ingram was redshirted (2004).
I'm sure they could push through for the medical redshirt, but from a player source he is currently thinking to just go to the no fun league draft. That could all change throughout the course of a year of course as there are several obvious factors.
C.I. is done with his Gator career. He will not pursue a redshirt and instead will get ready for the '09 combine. Meyer appeared to indicate that C.I. was not eligible for a redshirt, as the first redshirt had to have been medical and it was not.
Regardless, C.I., you were the man in Glendale and in many games. God Bless.

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Kyle Orton will start as the Chicago Bears opening day quarterback -- beating Rex Grossman in a competition that lasted through training camp and two preseason games.
So lonely... some guy posted this on Gator Country. What would you chose?
I apologize in advance for this not posting this on the Pub---but I want to get the opinion of football people; people who take football as seriously as I do. Some might think this is a somewhat silly...but I am pretty pissed right now and probably not thinking straight. I want some serious opinions on what I should do.
For weeks there have been rumors that my wife's brother may be getting married in December....specifically on Dec. 6th. As soon as I found that out, I made sure my wife got in touch with the decision-makers in her family and let them know what a bad/awful/stupid idea that was b/c it would put me (UF in the SECCG) and many other men that will go to this wedding (Clemson fans, thus possibly the ACCCG) in a real rough spot. Fortunately, my wife's father, a big Clemson fan, joined forces with me and we killed that idea pretty quickly. Assuming it would either be one of the 2 other weekends in December before Christmas.....I thought nothing more of it.
Fast forward to this past Saturday: I am at a wedding reception eating a plate of food with my wife and several other couples. One couple, UGA fans, started saying we ought to meet up for some tailgating for this years game. I told them where I usually park (Lot J) and they could certainly come by for drinks, etc.... We then started talking about how this years game could be extra special (both will prob. be in Top 5 with Gameday a certainty, last years stunt put extra spice into this years game, etc...) Then I was asked the date of the game. Upon confirming the date on the back of my Gator Booster card....my sister-in-law begins laughing---uncontrollably. I then asked her "what so funny?" I was then told there was no way I was going b/c thats when Tripp's wedding was planned. At that exact moment, I GLARED at my wife and asked if she knew this. She responded that she did and has been afraid to tell me for over a week. I was then given a multitude of reasons why this was the only date that would work----I will not bore you by going through them. Needless to say, my wife's brother, who is a good guy, isn't a football/sports guy in the least.
To add insult to injury, the wedding is planned for 2pm and there "may not" be a TV at the reception. Even if there is one, it was strongly hinted that planting myself in front of the TV would look bad. While I understand its not my place to dictate the date of the wedding, I feel so screwed b/c there is not a damn thing I can do about it.
While my wife is real understanding, real cool and not the controlling type at all, every reason I present to her as to why NO ONE will miss me at this event has fallen on deaf ears. I feel I have no choice in the matter---which is why I am livid. I'm screwed either way: if I go to the wedding/reception I will be pissed and in a bad mood the entire time particularily if I can't at least watch it on TV. If I go to the game, I feel that will be held against me for a long, long time.
QUESTION for football people: Is there any arguement/tactic you would use in this situation that I haven't thought of? The idea of missing this game makes me want to puke.
Funny writing from EDSBS about the end of Raycom/Lincoln Financial's relationship with the SEC beginning next year.

Although perhaps with a crew that can spot the ball without dropping the camera, getting distracted by a particularly colorful bug, or whatever the hell else that forced the JP/LF/Raycom crew to occasionally pull a Star Trek evasive maneuver scene on the audience. Imagine what they could do with sound men who didn’t leave live mikes on the entire game somewhere in the equipment truck! Savor the possibilities of a broadcast where they didn’t have to talk into antiquated mikes with covers the size of afro wigs!
They have AFN (armed forces network) here and they play alot of the games they just may not be live. I know they will have the second game live and hopefully most of the games will at least be on at some point. Thanks for the link
UGA ranked #1 in first coaches poll! That sets them up for a nice fall. I don't think they can handle that pressure
ReplyDeleteWhere is SOS's vote for Duke??
ReplyDeleteI like how USF is ranked and FSU and Miami are not.
ReplyDeleteSo good.
OSU is #3. I guess I'll have to start paying attention to them now since they will be funding my trips back to Gville :)
ReplyDeleteDeath, taxes and OSU in the BCS National Title Game Jasser. You don't even have to pay attention to them and they'll be in it.
ReplyDeleteGo Big 10. Pfft.

You are not allowed to talk about "or else we could be on the outside looking in" until your pendulum steadies.
ReplyDeleteSo much for having a solid starting RB. Pfft!!!
Let's hope our secondary has improved so we don't see plays like the first one in that video from OSU's offense.

ReplyDeleteHarvey still holding out
ReplyDeletePercy
ReplyDeleteCI not at practice today. Meyer said he had a strained knee and had an MRI. Results not yet back.
ReplyDeleteRainey pulled a groin yesterday at practice, but was running lightly today with no drills.
ReplyDeleteHarvin is getting jacked up hope it doesnt slow him down any.
ReplyDeleteDang it. CI is out for the season with a torn ACL.
ReplyDeleteI agree about Percy and his size vs speed Bruce.
ReplyDeleteWhere is the confirmed written source James?
