Crapital One Bowl Postgame

  1. Was the stomping on the logo as classless looking in person as it was on TV? That was very FSUish.

  2. Are you talking about at the end of the game?

  3. “We don’t thrive on individual awards,” Harvin said. “We didn’t come out with the win, so I’m not satisfied.”

A disappointed Harvin didn’t want to talk about his stellar individual performance. He used the platform to inform the media and Gators fans that he is taking over a major leadership role in Florida football.

“I’m going to get hungry and get to the off-season and work harder and get everybody else to play on a certain level and hope to get back to the championship,” Harvin said in the post game interview. “We know that we’ve got a lot of players coming back, but at the same time if you don’t have the chemistry, it doesn’t matter who you have coming back.
Like I said, we’ve just got to put it all together next year.”

“We didn’t have a very good off-season this year,” Harvin said. “We had a lot of individual people going and doing their own thing and we didn’t have that the year before when we won the national championship. I’m going to put that back on my shoulders to get everybody back on the same page and hopefully we’ll get back to it.”

“It’s part of being young. Everybody has to grow up. Everybody wants to do their own thing and wants to do their thing that way, but it’s proven that the ‘I’ word don’t work. We’ll get back to what the coaches know what’s best for us and hopefully we’ll get back to the top.”

Harvin spent awful lot of time talking about championships for a player who wears the colors of a team that just lost a game they had no business losing. Harvin does that because he gets it. What it takes to win is not at all lost on him. Can he convey that message to his teammates?

“I see a lot of people look up to me and follow me, so I’m going to lead and hope to get everybody to the same level and the same page and hopefully get back to the championship next year.”

  5. Well it's not a Gator logo so it doesn't bother me.

  6. From the Orlando Sentinal:

"That's just the way Percy is -- real humble," Gators teammate Dustin Doe said. "He's going to hang back for a while. He had a great game, but he doesn't want to talk about it because we lost. He's a team guy."

"You never doubt your chances if Percy's out there," Doe said, praising Harvin because his teammate wouldn't acknowledge his own performance. "He works hard and he always finds a way to make plays. I just feel bad he won't get more attention for what he did today."

Instead of talking about how good it felt to get into a zone with Tebow, the first words out of Harvin's mouth when he finally left his sanctuary were an apology.

"I wish we had won it for the seniors, and I want to tell them I'm sorry," he said. "It's not right for them to go out like this. You work so hard your whole career, then you end it with a loss. We wanted to send them out the right way, and I feel bad we didn't get it done."

"I just wish we had found a way to settle down out there," Harvin said. "They were blitzing a lot and that really took us out of what we do on offense. They rattled us. We let them rattle us. I give all the credit to Michigan for winning a tough football game, but we had the chance to win it. They stepped up and we didn't."

His frustration gave way to anger as he spoke about what was missing from this year's team.

"We didn't have a very good offseason after we won the national championship last year," he said. "We had a lot of people doing their own thing instead of working together as a team. This is what happens when you don't work together. I promise this offseason is going to be different."

  7. It was before the game and it was in the center of the field. It might have been before you got to the stadium. But it looked like something miami or FSU would do.

  10. They did it at Tennessee last year too. I don't know why Urban Meyer allows it.
