  1. I like the fact that you have to have a college degree to play in the league.

  2. The college degree is an interesting requirement. I like it too. Obviously it tends to lean toward the 4 & 5 year players, not the ones who leave early.

  3. Good article regarding the win last Saturday and coming back down to earth after watching film.

  4. I guess this first half might bring them further down to earth. sigh.

  5. Grab ahold of your wallets. You guys paid for ref$u's stadium overhaul in the early 90s, and now they are going to ask for you to pay for a roof over it!! Ridiculous!

  6. I stand corrected. This is excellent use of taxpayer money.

  11. Timmay!!! Exceptional video Bruce!!!

  12. Well, they only came to play for 30 minutes. They really fell apart after that. BD was sitting on the bench in the last 10 mins.... never seen him do that before.

  13. Solid recruiting today. Lost 2, but that happens every year.

  14. We lost Mattison he is going to be linebackers coach for the Ravens. Florida added former Iowa State coach Dan McCarney to its defensive coaching staff Friday.

  17. TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida State's sports teams will be on self-imposed probation for two years and some will lose scholarships because of an academic cheating scandal, the university said in a report released Thursday.

  18. Kinda sad to hear Mick doing AAFL radio spots for Team Florida. Waters him down a bit in my mind, but hey, the $ is there.

  19. The Gator bball team is lousy.

  20. New NCAA rules for next year.

New rules: a 40 second play clock that begins to run at end of the preceding play. A 25 second clock will be used on change of possessions.

After a player goes out of bounds, the stopped game clock will restart upon the ball being placed back in play. This rule does not apply for the last two minutes of each half.

  21. You are right at the moment, but preach on brother Peaock. We all know what happened last time you jumped off!

  22. Bruce,

I thought those rules were just up for vote. Didn't think they were instantiated yet, are they? Link?

  23. ESPN's Andy Katz has the Gators as being one of the teams just missing the cut.

As I said, they eat a$$!!!

  24. Correct I misread the article. They are up for review in April

    Some other suggestions...

only one challenge whether he was right or wrong. Under the new rule the coach, if he's right, will get one extra challenge, but no more.

    • If a kickoff goes out of bounds, the receiving team will have the option of taking the ball on its own 40-yard line. The previous rule gave the receiving team the ball on the 35-yard line.

    • The incidental five-yard facemask penalty will be eliminated. Only the 15-yard facemask penalties will be called.

    • A "horse collar" tackle, where the defender grabs inside the back collar of the shoulder pads to pull the runner down, will now be a personal foul.

    • There will no longer be sideline warnings for players and coaches who crowd onto the field during the game. The official may assess a five-yard penalty without a warning for the infraction.

The recommendations must still be reviewed and given final approval by the NCAA's Playing Rules Oversight Panel, which meets in April.

  25. I really dislike the out of bounds rule. Hope they don't instantiate that one. Already actual play time is minimal in a football game. Someone recently told me that there are only 13 or so minutes of actual play time during a football game.

  26. I can't believe you haven't even watched ONE game this year. I take back what I said, you are not allowed to say anything at all. You are a big bandwagoner.

How many Heat games have you watched this year?

    How many Florida Panthers games?

  27. I am 0 for all sports since my Playstation 3 purchase and head-scratching extreme interest in the presidential race.

    ReplyDelete
  28. 13 minutes of actual gametime??? I recall an 8 minute drive to end the NCG vs. OSU and there was def. more than 5 minutes in that game.

It depends if you go snap to tackle or incomplete pass vs. running active game clock.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yeah, the out of bound rule is the only one I don't like. The no more 5 yard face mask kinda sucks because alot of times it is just accidental.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Jamie, I am questioning your use of the word instantiate in the sentence "Hope they don't instantiate that one" and am extremely surprised that you did not receive any harassment from the Peacock.

    ReplyDelete
  31. "The Peacock" is on sabbatical, yet reserves the right to chime in as he pleases. Please forgive any ommissions or joyfully celebrate his oversight and inactivity.

    ReplyDelete
  32. We are going to have to teach you some balance. Have you figured out the presidential race yet? Do you think Tebow will win the Heisman as a Sophomore?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yes, 13 minutes. Sheesh. Of course obviously snap to tackle. Actual gametime. Sheesh.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Well, hopefully they would not call the little incidental face mask penalties any longer if that rule was instantiated. Otherwise I hope they don't instantiate it.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Perhaps Jasser thought you were meaning to say initiate? And to be honest I have never heard of the word, but who am I?

    Much confusing link:

Here is James' clarification from m-w.com:

    instantiate

  38. The NBA would say Who the Helen of Troy is Taureen Green. Perhaps he'll make the roster instead of the D league. However, I do not predict a long NBA career for TG unfort.

  40. Funny SOS quote:

--Defensive Assistant Coach Tim Marcum recalls a specific Spurrier zinger after a 34-8 win over LSU: "We gave the ball to the offense four times inside the 20. The next day, I ran into him in the hallway . And a little tongue and cheek, he said, 'Timmy, how do you expect us to get any big numbers on offense if you keep turning the ball over to us at the 20?' That was kind of his way."
